🌍 Who We Are

About BettingInAfrica

Africa's independent betting review platform. Honest reviews, real testing, no paid placements.

Our Mission

BettingInAfrica exists for one reason: to help African bettors make informed decisions. The online betting market across Africa is growing fast β€” but so is the number of unreliable operators, misleading bonus claims, and outright scams. We believe every bettor deserves access to honest, data-driven information about the platforms they trust with their money.

Our mission is simple: provide the most thorough, transparent, and genuinely useful betting site reviews available anywhere on the continent. We don't accept payment for positive reviews. We don't inflate ratings to please advertisers. We test every site ourselves β€” and we tell you exactly what we found.

Who We Are

Founded in 2024, BettingInAfrica is an independent review and comparison platform covering the six largest online betting markets in Africa: Nigeria, Ghana, Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, and DR Congo.

Our team consists of experienced sports bettors, industry analysts, and content specialists with deep knowledge of the African betting landscape. We understand the unique challenges that African bettors face β€” from limited payment options and unreliable internet connections to regulatory uncertainty and predatory operators.

We're not a betting company. We don't operate sportsbooks, and we don't take bets. We're an informational platform that earns revenue through affiliate partnerships β€” when you sign up to a betting site through one of our links, we may receive a referral commission. Importantly, these commissions never influence our ratings. Our full methodology is explained on our How We Rate page.

What Sets Us Apart

There's no shortage of "best betting sites" lists on the internet. Most of them are thin affiliate pages with generic descriptions and inflated ratings designed to maximise clicks. BettingInAfrica is different, and here's why:

πŸ’°

Real Money Testing

We register, deposit, bet, and withdraw on every site we review. No demo accounts, no screenshots β€” real testing with real money.

πŸ“±

Mobile-First Reviews

We test on budget Android devices because that's what most African bettors use. If it doesn't work on a ₦50,000 phone, we note it.

🏦

Local Payment Focus

M-Pesa, MTN MoMo, OPay, USSD, bank transfer β€” we test every local payment method, not just Visa and Mastercard.

πŸ”„

Monthly Updates

Reviews are re-evaluated every month. Odds change, apps update, payment speeds fluctuate β€” our reviews reflect reality.

Country Coverage

We currently cover six African countries, each with dedicated content tailored to local operators, payment methods, regulations, and betting culture:

Our Values

  • Honesty over revenue: We will never recommend a betting site we wouldn't use ourselves. If a high-paying partner delivers a bad experience, we'll say so publicly.
  • Local knowledge matters: Generic global betting advice doesn't serve African bettors. We focus on local payment methods, local operators, local regulations, and local betting culture.
  • Responsible gambling is non-negotiable: We believe in promoting gambling as entertainment, not income. Every page includes responsible gambling information, and we actively encourage bettors to set limits and seek help if needed.
  • Accessibility for all: Our site is designed to work on budget smartphones with limited data. Information should be accessible to everyone, not just those with expensive devices and unlimited bandwidth.
  • Continuous improvement: The betting industry evolves rapidly. We commit to keeping our content current, our reviews accurate, and our methodology transparent.

Our Editorial Process

Every recommendation on BettingInAfrica starts with a country-specific checklist rather than a generic global bookmaker ranking. We look at whether the operator is licensed locally, whether deposits and withdrawals work with the payment methods people actually use, and whether the mobile experience is reliable on slower connections. A bookmaker that performs well in one country is not automatically promoted in another, because the banking rails, bonus terms, odds depth, and support quality can differ sharply by market.

We also revisit pages when search data, user feedback, or operator changes suggest that an article needs an update. That includes fixing outdated login paths, replacing weak explanations with clearer steps, checking bonus wording, and adding responsible gambling context where the original page was too thin. Our aim is not to push every visitor toward the same brand, but to help readers make a calmer and better-informed choice.

Our Team

BettingInAfrica is run by a small, dedicated team of sports betting enthusiasts and industry professionals. Our reviewers have a combined experience of over 20 years in the African online betting space. They've used dozens of platforms across multiple countries, and they bring that first-hand experience to every review.

Our team includes:

  • Review analysts: Hands-on testers who register, deposit, bet, and withdraw on every platform. They document every step of the process.
  • Odds specialists: Data analysts who track and compare odds across operators to identify the best value for bettors.
  • Content writers: Specialists in creating clear, accurate, and accessible content for African audiences.
  • Country editors: Regional experts who understand the local regulations, payment landscape, and betting culture in each market we cover.

Reader-First Reviews

Good affiliate content should still be useful when a reader chooses not to click anything. That is the standard we try to hold each page to.

How We Stay Current

Betting pages age quickly, so we treat maintenance as part of the product rather than a one-time publishing task. We review search demand, user questions, operator changes, payment method updates, and technical SEO reports to decide which guides need attention next. When a page is too thin, unclear, or overly similar to another page, we expand it with practical details that help a real reader complete a task.

We also separate confirmed facts from editorial judgment. Licensing status, supported payment methods, and login paths should be checked against current public information. Opinions about usability, trust, and value are based on our review framework and may change when a bookmaker improves or declines.
